So if you didn’t already know I live in the lovely Scandinavian north, specifically Denmark. We’ve had a surprisingly mild autumn but the temperature has dropped and I’m starting to feel that winter cold creep in. My lips are chapped, my hair is brittle and the skin on my hands is slowly becoming cracked. A little while ago I wrote a post on how to rescue your skin from city pollution and winter dryness (check it out here), so I thought Id share some of my favorite products for rescuing hair and hands.
Ok so I have massive curly hair, which is almost always dry, but when winter rolls my way it becomes brittle, weak and even more dry. So I try to give it extra attention and care. Every time I wash my hair, about once or twice a week. I use an intensive hair mask like the Origins Rich Rewards or the Macadamia Deep Repair Mask (full review here). Both of these products work wonders for bringing back hydration and shine. Plus they smell delicious 😀
The Josie Maran Aragan Oil has got to be one of my all time favorite multi tasking products. Not only is is great for your face, oily or dry, it also does wonders for the hair. I like to add a few drops to my hands then rub it through my hair at night as a leave in type treatment. I wake up and my hair is shiny and soft.
So the hands are normally the part of the body that becomes destroyed from winter the easiest and fastest. I always keep a hand cream in my bag and one on my vanity for easy access. I’m loving the Body Shop Wild Rose Hand Cream. It nourishes the hands leaving them super soft without a nasty greasy layer or film. I also love the Bath and Body Works Pink Chiffon Hand Cream, this is the one I keep in my hand bag for when I’m on the go.
My cuticles are normally the first to go when winter hits. They become extremely dry so they need lots of extra love. I try to use either the Orly Cuticle Oil+ every night or my Lush Lemony Flutter. Both of these products are amazing for restoring your cuticles and nails.
Don’t forget to give you feet some loving too. I leave a foot scrub in the shower and a file to get rid of the dry hard skins and a foot cream to smooth on afterwards. Then slip on a warm pair of specialty cotton socks that help keep feet even more hydrated.
Although these beauty products will definitely help you out and even cure some of your dry hair and skin the best way is to try and prevent such damage. Wearing gloves when its cold and windy will definitely help. I love my Burberry gloves. They do a great job of shielding my skin and keeping me warm. Plus their so cute and go with everything 😀
I also like to wear a fun pom pom hat. It protects some of my hair from frostbite 😀 I got this cute hat in Norway last year when I went snowboarding and have been addicted to it ever since.
My next item is a scarf, it doesn’t really help with dry winter hair or skin but it sure keep my neck and throat covered from wind and cold which is a must in the winter. I love brightly colored and patterned scarves but I keep coming back to my grey and black Burberry. Its made from cashmere so its soft and warm, plus it goes with everything. Ive had it for over 3 years now and its still in mint condition.
I love to share my favorite tips, products and accessories and I’m always on the look out for more so please do leave a comment with some of your favorite products and tips for winter.
