October 2014 Beauty Favorites

So I’ve totally been slaking with the favorites posts but now I’m back and I think I have officially redeemed myself!!!!!

First monthly love has got to be the new Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows. The color selection is insane, the pigmentation is out of this world, and the formula is the creamiest softest gel to powder finish ever.

MakeUpForEvEr_ArtistShadowsMakeUpForEvEr_ArtistShadows_mufeFor my lips I’ve either been rocking Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense lipstick in 48, the perfect deep plummy red  or going full on nude with Mac Lip liner in Spice and Lipglass in Obviously Bare.

mac_lipliner_spice_macLipglass_MUFE_RougeArtistIntenseI’m still obsessing and using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour kit. It has everything I need and does the job magnificently.

anastasia_beverely_Hills_contourkitI’ve found a new holy grail eyeliner that actually stays put in my waterline all day long without smearing, smudging, bleeding or any of that nasty stuff. Its the Hourglass Mechanical Gel Liner in Obsidian. The tip is super fine which makes doing the waterline a jiff and allows precision if used on the lid or under the bottom lashes. It’s super creamy, dries quickly, lasts all day, and is highly pigmented.

hourglass_mechanical_gel_linerI’m taking a break from my Depend Cosmetic Gel Polish and been spreading the love to my normal polishes. Ive been rocking OPI In The Cable-Car Pool Lane non stop at the moment. If you haven’t noticed I have a thing for deep plummy-reds!!

Best eyeshadow palette goes tooooo..drum roll please….Lorac Pro. It has everything you need including a range of matte and shimmer shades , with perfect buttery textures and easy blendability. Of course the pigmentation is insane and its absolutely perfect for travel.

lorac_proI”m a huge fan of using cream eye shadows and colored bases. Ive tried so many of these type of products from the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils to the Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream Eyeshadows, both amazing with great  color selections but my favorite ones are the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoos. The shade range is extensive with a variety of finishes from matte, to shimmery, metallic and glitter. They last so long without creasing so they can be worn alone but they also do a great job of boosting any powder eyeshadow. I have been really hooked on the shades Pomegranate Punk, a gorgeous burgundy plum with golden micro glitter, and Pink Gold, a pretty pink with golden shimmer.

maybelline_24hour_color_tattooBest mascara is a toss up between the Benefit They’re Real and Tarte Lights Camera Lashes. They both do a fab job at volumizing and lengthening with minimal clumping. Both are the deepest of black while neither flaking or transferring onto the skin. The Tarte Lights camera Lashes gets half a point more just because the brush is slightly more comfortable on the lash line (Benefits They’re Real is a little sharp and prickly and sometimes hurts my lash line if I get too close!!)

Ive been really into winged liner this year and I find it easiest and most flattering to use a gel liner. Ive tried Smashbox, YSL, and Maybelline (just to mention a few) but the L’Oreal Super Liner Gel Intenza in Pure Black  is the best I’ve tried, it doesn’t flake, smudge or budge and its so creamy. The perfect formula for a crisp line.

tarte_lightscameralashes_LorealOh eyeliners how I love you but why must you never stay in my water line!!?? I always have to set with powder but the best black pencil liner I’ve tried in terms of lonegvity is Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Pencil in Covet. It lasts for a few hours without setting with shadow which is the best I’ve encountered so far (for my rather wet waterline!!).

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_CovetPencilBrows:

For the last year and a half I’ve been almost exclusively using the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products. Ive tried the brow powder, the brow wiz, and the clear brow gel and love them all. But the most stand out product has got to be the Brow Wiz. The tip is super fine for extreme precision and the formula is soft so its easy to apply. Plus it comes with a built in spooly for grooming and blending.

Runner up for best brow product of 2013 definitely goes to the Benefit Gimme Brow. This little guy is perfect for those natural and quick make up days. The brush is tiny so its absolutely perfect for the brow, it lightly builds and fills brows for a natural put together look.  anastasiabeverlyhills_browwiz_benefitgimmebrowLips:

I’m not a huge lip liner wearer so I don’t have a big range of shades but I definitely like the Mac Pro Longwear Lip Pencils for longevity and minimizing feathering. One of my faves is RiRi Woo.

RiRi_Hearts_Mac_Collection_ririwooprolongwearpencilLipstick wise I love so many brands and have a huge collection from Mac to Lime Crime, Maybelline and Make Up For Ever but the Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks are out of this world insane. Love the color range, pigmentation, and textures. The shade in Naked and Jilted are one of my faves among many.  What an amazing product and more generally, an all over fantastic brand. You can find a full review and swatches of some of the shades here.

urbandecay_revolution_lipstickThe NYX Butter Glosses have been the best thing to come to the beauty world. The gorgeous shades of pastel pinks, lavenders and basic nudes work great for any occasion. They look great alone or layered over lipstick without that sticky tacky feeling. Plus they smell delicious!! Click here to see a full review of these bad boys.

nyx_butterglossHonorable Mention:

Although these next two products are relatively new as they came out in late 2013 I felt they deserved a mention for their amazingness. My honorable mentions of 2013 have got to be the Urban Decay Naked 3 for its gorgeous array of pinky hues, amazing textures, and fab pigmentation. As well as the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Trio… I’ve been using both of these products almost exclusively since I got them in December.

urbandecaynaked3_hourglassambiantlightingtrioWell guys, I hope you’ve enjoyed my 2013 beauty product faves and round up. All of these babies have been staples which I’m sure ill use for years to come. What were some of your faves from 2013?

Until next time my fellow make up lovers!!!

Review & Swatches: Anastasia Beverly Hills Lavish Palette

Hey Everyone 😀

So Ive been playing around and testing out the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lavish Palette for a good week now so its time to give you guys the ins and outs of this kit.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKitI picked mine up here at cultbeauty.co.uk (ships internationally) for $42. The shipping was quick and easy as always 😀 On to the actual products we go…

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_contentsThe kit is housed in a sturdy cardboard box with a crazy “lavish” pattern. This may seem tacky for some but I think its fun and fresh! In the box you receive a great booklet for inspiration and guidance from some of the most coveted makeup gurus at the moment. The palette also contains an eyeshadow palette and a bunch of other goodies.

The bottom of the box houses a pair of those famous Slanted Tweezers (best tweezers ever, super sharp and precise), Perfect Brow Pencil in Brown (great for defining the brows), Covet Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir (my new favorite eyeliner, great pigmentation and it actually stays put on the waterline!!!), and a double sided brush (check out my Catwalk Palette review here to see how the brush preforms) .

anastasiabeverlyhills_catwalkpalette_brushThe eye shadows are the most exciting part so lets get into it.

The palette is housed in its own sleeve which fits nicely into the box or removed for other methods of storage.AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_5

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_paletteThe eye shadow palettes comes with 10 amazing shades in a variety of finishes from shimmer and glitter, to satin and matte.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_palette2AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_palette3Cream: A light nude peach with a matte finish. This is an amazing brow bone highlight for my skin tone, it blends in so naturally yet really defines the brow.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_creamAntique: Is a grey taupe shade with a satin finish. It totally reminds me of Mac satin taupe. Anyways this shade is gorgeous. Great pigmentation, texture and blendability.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_antiqueRum Cake: A warm bronze with a satin finish. Another beautifully pigmented, buttery smooth shade.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_rumcakeMoss: A metallic shimmery green with golden undertones. I’m in love with this shade, the texture is amazing but I do wish the pigmentation was slightly more powerful with this one.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_mossTruffle: A deep copper bronze with a satin finish. Once again the pigmentation, texture and ease was spot on.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_truffleBallet: A super light baby pink with silver glitter. Unfortunately this is my least favorite shade. The pigmentation was lacking a bit and the texture was rather dry and chalky. A white base is definitely needed to make this color appear more opaque.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_balletOrange Soda: A pale orange with a matte finish. The texture is so smooth and soft for a matte its absolutely wonderful. The pigmentation isn’t insane but I like that its a bit sheer, it works perfect for buffing out hard edges around the crease and creates a gorgeous fade. It really is a beautiful and unique shade.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_orangesodaSienna: A deep red toned brown with a matte finish. Another extremely smooth and buttery soft shade. This one is really pigmented and is one of the most beautiful crease shades I’ve seen in a while.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_siennaPink Sapphire: A sapphire berry purple with a satin finish. This is another favorite of mine. The texture is wonderful, the pigmentation is fantastic and it blends effortlessly.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_LavishKit_pinksapphireBlack Diamond: A matte black with gold glitter. The pigmentation is good and the texture is its pretty smooth. Its not the blackest black but its is dark and wow does it look fab on the outer v.

THE VERDICT:

5/5 for this great kit at a great value. The tweezers are amazing they are actually the best ones i’ve ever tried. The covet eyeliner is pretty darn amazing too. It actually stays on my waterline without smudging or smearing. The brush included is decent for a kit and actually useable. The piece de resistance has got to be the amazing eye shadows. Most of the shades had amazing pigmentation with wonderful textures. I was a tad disappointed with Moss and Ballet but I can still make them work. None of the shades gave me any fall out either plus the box is totally reusable. I’m really happy I grabbed one of these bad boys, it really is a lavish kit 😀
