Review & Swatches: Benefit Hydra-Smooth Lip Color and Ultra-Plush Lip Gloss

Hey Guys,

So Benefit has recently launched a bunch of new goodies including a new box powder, a new brow product, and a bunch of gorgeous lippies 😀 So today I’d thought I’d review and swatch some of the Hydra-Smooth Lip Colors ($19) and Ultra-Plush Lip Glosses ($16) all available from your nearest Benefit Counter.

Here’s a looksey at the new packaging inspired by the Golden Gate bridge and art deco architecture. I love the retro chic vibe 😀

Benefit_LipProducts

Benefit_LipProducts_packagingThe packaging of the products themselves are also super adorable. Again they are inspired by that 50’s style art deco architecture.

Benefit_LipProducts_lipstickandglossI picked up two of the Ultra Smooth Lip Colors; one in Tutti-Cutie and one in Talk Flirty.

Benefit_LipProducts_Ultra-SmoothLipColorsWhat benefit says:

“hydra-smooth lip color is the fun & flattering future of lipstick! It’s enriched with shea, mango butter and vitamin E for lips that look supple & hydrated. It glides on irresistibly smooth with a double-slanted tip that’s custom designed to define AND fill. This collection was specially created to bring you the Top 10 most universally flattering shades…so they’re easy to pick & even easier to wear. Available in three levels of coverage: sheer, medium and medium-full.

Sheer Coverage
lip service (pink-peach)
air kiss (bubblegum)
tutti-cutie (coral)

Medium Coverage

nice ‘n teasy (rosy neutral)
frisky business (shimmering nude)
juicy details (natural pink)
talk flirty (orchid pink)

Medium Full Coverage
fling thing (very berry)
dare me (true fuchsia)
wing woman (peachy neutral)”

Now on to the swatches:

Benefit_LipProducts_Ultra-Smooth_LipColor_TuttiCutieTutti-Cutie: Sheer coverage coral pink. Super smooth, hydrating and comfortable to wear. It’s extremely easy to apply and glides right onto the lips. Good pigmentation considering its meant to be sheer coverage. the lasting power wasn’t too impressive. I noticed that after 2 hours it was completely gone but my lips were feeling extremely hydrated.

Benefit_Ultra-SmoothLipColor_TalkFlirtyTalk Flirty: Described as a orchid pink with a medium coverage. I would say this is more of a berry mauve shade with slight pink under tones. Again this one is extremely hydrating, easy and smooth to apply. The pigmentation is great for a medium coverage shade. This is an excellent way to rock that berry autumn lip in a more wearable way.

THE VERDICT:

4/5 for the Ultra-Smooth Lip Colors. Absolutely love the packaging. The new tip is easy to use and allows for precision application, at least with the lighter less opaque shades. These lippies are super hydrating, super smooth and glides on effortlessly. The finish on both is rather shiny so no need for a lip gloss (unless you wanted to :D). I like that these products come in a variety of coverage. I also like that they are more on the sheer side..it makes them mess free and more wearable for you more natural guys and gals. The only down side I would say is the longevity factor…although I really don’t mind having to reapply this, not only because its so hydrating but I love pulling out that cute little lip tower 😀

On to the glosses we go 😀 I picked up the Ultra-Plush Lip Glosses in Kiss You and A-Lister.  Benefit_Ultra-PlushLipGlossWhat Benefit says:

“The plushness is poutrageous! Our soft & silky glosses glide on sooo smooth, drenching lips in luscious color that’s never sticky. From crystal clear to hot pink, the luxurious formulas give your lips a kissable, sexy sheen”.

Benefit_Ultra-Plush_LipGloss_KissYouKiss You: Described as a clear fuchsia and that’s exactly what it is. The pigmentation isn’t very strong at all but that’s definitely to be expected since its meant to be sheer. Its very smooth, super hydrating, smells delightful, and glides on easily without sitting in fine lines. Its definitely not sticky and feels rather balm-ish on the lips. The longevity is rather minimal lasting about 2 hours.

Benefit_Ultra-Plush_LipGloss_AListerA-Lister: Described as a bubble gum pink. Its a sheer, cool toned, milky pink with a slight sheen to it. This has really great pigmentation for a sheer gloss. This one is also hydrating, easy to apply and isn’t sticky. Again the longevity lacked a bit with only 2 hours wear.

THE VERDICT:

4/15 for these bad boys. They were super hydrating, extremely smooth, very comfortable and gave a nice shine without a tacky residue. They look gorgeous on their own and work perfectly layered on top of the Ultra-Smooth Lip Colors. The only down side is the longevity. This will definitely not stop me from wearing these guys on a daily basis…I’m already obsessed with both the lipsticks and lip glosses!!!

Have any of you tried the new lip colors or glosses? What do you think…is it worth the price tag?

July Favorites

Hey guys and dolls,

Today I’d thought I’d share my July Favorites with you all. I no its a bit late considering its the 2nd of August already, but I just got home from holidays, had my first shift back at work, and loads of laundry to do so blogging was on the back burner. I also posted on Instagram last night that this post would be up, but it wasn’t because I passed out, so here it is now!!

July_FavoritesSo If you follow me on Instagram you’ll no all about my beauty purchases and I must say I went pretty crazy. All of my favorites of the month are all new products and I’m super excited to share them with you all.

July_Favorites_Stilla_InTheLightsI picked up the Stilla in the Lights eyeshadow palette. This bad boy is amazing. Great pigmentation, smooth creamy textures and great neutrals for day time or night time. My favorite shade has go to be Kitten, its the most beautiful shimmery champagne color.

July_Favorites_Stilla_SmudgePotSince I loved the shade Kitten so much I decided to purchase the Smudge Pot version. This stuff is wow, great color pay off and no creasing. This amps up the kitten shadow that much more, and also looks great under many different shadow colors.

July_Favorites_Smashbox_Primer_BlemishControlThe Smashbox Photo Finish More Than Primer Blemish Control has been my saving grace the last month. Ive been having major break outs around my chin area and this bad boy has cleared them up in as little as 3 days. My skin looks and feels noticeably better. Its just an amazing product. Its also worked great as a primer making my makeup glide on and long lasting. I think I’ll do a full review on this guy because that’s how good he really is!!

July_Favorites_TheBalm_Instain_FallIn early July I went up to Sonoma Wine Country and went to my favorite store in St.Helena, Heaven + Earth. Its a beautiful beauty store with amazing products. Its my one stop shop for all things TheBalm. I really love there blushes so I thought i’d try the new Instain blushes. I picked up one in Fall, its a gorgeous vibrant coral. Its so pretty on, and does leave a beautiful stain on the cheeks. it just soaks right into the skin and doesn’t look powdery at all. I wish i picked up more of these!!!

July_Favorites_Buxom_LipCreamIve been loving corals for my lips especially in gloss form. Its youthful, fun and fresh. Ive been super obsessed with the Buxom Full-On Lip Creams especially the shade in Mai Tai. (I’ve got a full review and swatches of some of the shades here). Its just gives a slight glossy hint of coral-ness on the lips. Plus that wonderful minty tingling plumping sensation is really lovely.

July_Favorites_Nivea_LipButterIn the evening and morning I’ve been slathering on this Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss. It smells delicious and does a great job and nourishing and hydrating my lips.

July_Favorites_Chanel_EayTendreThe whole month I was in Cali I used my moms Chanel Eau Tendre non stop. Its a wonderful fragrance, so light, fresh, and summery. I decided to buy my own bottle and even got the hair mist to go along with it!!

Well guys those were some of my favorite products of the month. What were some of yours? Keep a look out for a bunch of reviews to come because I sure did go shopping crazy on holiday 😀

Reviw & Swatches: Smashbox Halo Long Wear Blush in Blissful

Hey Guys and Dolls,

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend 😀

I’ve been playing around with a few of the Smashbox products I got at an event recently while in Dubai. I’ve been testing out the super popular Halo Long Wear Blush in Blissful so I decided to review and swatch it for you.

Smashbox_HaloBlush_BlissfulSmashbox_HaloBlush_Blissful_BacksideSmashbox_HaloBlush_Blissful_OpenThe packaging for this thing is super cool. It comes in a round, plastic, and sturdy container. The product is released through a shaving type mechanism. You just twist the bottom of the container and the product is shaved and exposed for use. It’s actually super smart, it keeps everything mess free and hygienic.

Smashbox_HaloBlush_Blissful_CloseupBlissful is a dusty matte rose shade. The texture is so soft and feels almost like butter although its a powder.

Smashbox_HaloBlush_Blissful_SwatchesThe pigmentation is insane with this blush. Its very true to color and really shows up well on the skin and cheeks. I suggest you work very light handedly with this product and build up the color because it’s pretty intense and can look clownish really quick. But blended out well and applied in a light layer gives for a perfect rose-mauve flush. Because of it’s finely milled and creamy texture it blends so effortlessly and flawlessly into the skin. It also lasts for a while and showed minimal signs of fading after 8 hours of wear.

THE VERDICT:

9/10 for this incredibly gorgeous and powerful blush. the texture, pigmentation and blendability are incredible. The only reason why it doesn’t get a 10/10 is the pigmentation is so strong that it could prove a little fussy and over done if not carefully applied. But apart from that, the packaging is great and the product is up there as one of my fave blushes. I’ll probably be rocking this in the winter for that perfect winter flush. I’m not surprised these blushes are some of Smashbox’s most popular and renowned products, I’ll definitely be having a look at these in Sephora when I head to Cali this summer. My American readers can get the blushes and other Smashbox products from sephora.com or smashbox.com. My birtish girls can get this from smashbox.co.uk. Unfortunately I don’t no where my danish girls could get their hands on this. They use to sell it in Matas and Magasin but not anymore.  Perhaps the British site delivers to Europe but I’m not sure.

What are your favorite Smashbox products? I received a lot more goodies from Smashbox so keep a look out for more reviews and swatches.
