Beauty and Makeup Wish List ~ Travel Edition

Hey guys,

I’m over the moon excited because I’m heading back to California for vacation to visit my parents and the rest of my fam. And im actually leaving in a few hours ahhhhhhh!!!! Every time I head back home I Ioad up on a bunch of beauty products, from re-purchasing things I’ve ran out of (typically unavailable in Europe) or new goodies I’ve been scoping and researching. And of course I compile my list of beauty must haves so I thought I’d share some of my items from my wish list.

I always load up on my favorite mascara and that’s the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes. It gives volume, lengthens, curls, and is super black. Never flakes yet easy to remove at night.

tarte_mascara_LightscameralashesI also just ran out of my Tarte Maracuja Self Tanner so I’ll need a new one of those. Best self tanner, smells good, easy to apply, and the outcome is a perfect bronzed tan which lasts for 10 days.

tarte_Maracuja_selftannerI also always load up on my favorite beauty tool, the Beauty Blender. I like to have fresh ones for my kit and myself of course :)

beauty-blenderI have super dry lips and I’ve heard great things about the Bite Agave Lip Mask so I think I might give it a go.

bite_agavelipmaskI also want to scope out some of the products from the Marc Jacobs beauty line. I’m mostly intrigued by the eyeshadow palettes.

I also need to add the Lolli Tint to my collection, since I’m a sucker for the 2014 Pantone color of the year; Radiant Orchid. tint_bene_balmIm sure once I enter Sephora and take a trip to Ulta that my bags will be full of goodies not on my list so keep a look out for some fun beauty hauls. My Top Tips and Favorite Products for Dry Skin

Hey guys and dolls,

So autumn is rolling in, at least that’s the case here in Copenhagen…the temperature is lower and there’s plenty of humidity in the air. As the days get darker and colder here in the Scandinavian north my combination skin becomes extremely dry and patchy. So I thought I would share some of my top tips for creating a flawless face on dry skin and some of my favorite products to achieve that dewy, radiant and smooth complexion.

First and foremost if you have dry skin and patchy areas, (I’m sure you’ve experienced that annoying tendency for your foundation to cling to those areas and actually make them stand out), exfoliation will be your best friend. Before applying makeup use a wash cloth, exfoliating product or Clarasonic to lightly exfoliate the skin to remove dry patches and smooth the skin about once a week. Don’t over exfoliate or use super harsh products as this can actually dry the skin out and make it more prone to irritation and redness.

Prepping the skin is super important too. Using a hydrating toner has really great skin care benefits and does wonders on dry patchy skin. Use a super hydrating serum and moisturizer with light infusing technology. Avoid products with alcohol in them as they not only dry the skin but increase sensitivity and redness. I’m absolutely loving the hydrating skin care line from Nars that comes with a Multi Action Hydrating Toner, Optimal Brightening Concentrate, Luminous Moisture Cream and Total Replenishing Eye Cream .

nars_SkinCareUse your favorite primer to help smooth the skins surface making a more neutral and blank canvas to work on. You can even get light infusing primers which are great for dry skin. Lots of brands have primers like this such as Laura Mercier, Urban Decay and Too Faced. Some of my favorites include the Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Complexion Primer Potion and the L’oreal Lumi Magique Base.

Choosing the right foundation is also key to a smooth and perfect finish to the skin. I really like dewy and radiant products for my skin. These type of products work wonders on dry skin. Keep a look out for products using terms such as Radiant, Luminous, Naked. These type of products will most likely suit dry skin. I’m especially loving the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Its really expensive but its just so wow!! There are also lots of drugstore equivalents that do a great job like the L’oreal Lumi Magique. Here are some of my favorite foundations that work wonders on dry skin as they add moisture and radiance to otherwise dull dry skin: Urban Decay Naked Skin, Nars Sheer Glow, Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, and L’oreal Lumi Magique.

Another great way to get that lit from within glow and dewy complexion is to use cream blushes and highlighters. I love the cream blushes from TopShop, Stilla and Maybelline.

Using the right tools and method of application is super important for those with dry skin. Avoid using a traditional paddle brush, buffing brushes, and stippling brushes as the movements with these type of brushes create micro exfoliation on the skin and thus creates an uneven and patchy surface. Instead try and use a damp cosmetic sponge. Ive tried all types of sponges but by far my favorite is the original Beauty Blender. This method is great for dry skin as you push the product against the skin and doesn’t disturb or enhance dry patches. It also absorbs excess product so you never look caked out 😀

Now lets talk about powder. If you like to set your foundation with powder for long lasting hold then use only minimal amounts of powder and try to apply powder only to the areas that really need it like the T zone as powder tends to dry the skin out. When applying powder avoid buffing it into the skin, rather push or roll the product into your skin to avoid disturbing it. This is also a great tip for all skin types as it doesn’t disrupt or move the foundation you applied.

If you ever use too much powder, or your foundation is a bit on the dry side then use a few sprays of dewy setting spray like Mac’s Fix+. Not only will this type of product add moisture back into the skin and eliminate cake face it can also help in the longevity of your make up 😀

MacFix+Well those were my favorite products for dry skin and a few application tips. I’m always on the look out for great tips for dry skin as it can be difficult to handle so please leave a comment below if you have any great tips or product suggestions.

My Top 5 Must Have Make Up Brushes

Hey guys and dolls 😀

Sorry I’ve been totally MIA for over a week. Ive just been having so much fun with the family that blogging has kind of been on the back burner. But now that I’m here in Cali for the next few weeks I will definitely have time for some more blogging.

I’ve been doing a fare bit of shopping so expect a bunch of reviews to come. Also I dont have an IMATS Haul to show you guys as I left my purchase in London at my sisters place but when I get home I’ll definetly have an indepth one. For now follow me on instagram @binkydiamonds where I post all all types of fun beauty and fashion related items daily 😀

Now on to what this post is really about 😀

Since I’ve been traveling and Ill be away for a while I needed to bring with me good brushes that were also multitask-ers. Lord knows I do a fair bit of shopping so the more space I can conserve the better. So heres my top 5 must have multi tasking makeup brushes:

1. Beauty Blender:

Ok its not really a brush but I use it almost everyday to apply foundation, concealer, and cream blush. You dampen the sponge before use for an airbrushed and cake free flawless finish. You can also use it with dry products to set for example your under eye area.

2. Sigma Duo Fiber Stippling Brush- F-50:

When i’m using a foundation that isn’t water based I’ll use this stippling brush. Its super soft and large enough for a fast and fuss free application. It gives a lighter coverage but that’s perfect for me, plus it’s summer so I don’t want to cake up. Its also great for blending and applying cream blushes and powder products.

3. Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush:

Ok so this guy is amazing. It’s dual fiber so you can use it with wet and dry products. You can use it to apply under eye concealer. It blends and applies creamy concealers wonderfully. Its of course amazing as an eye shadow brush for a quick splash of color on the lid or used for cream shadows for an easy mess free application.

4. Sonia Kashuk Taper Blending Brush No. 109:

Great brush for crease work and blending. Super soft hairs and just the right size for my eyes.

5. Sigma Large Powder Brush F-30:

Ive owned other great powder brushes but none as large and soft as this one. Its great to use with powder foundation for a light coverage or to lightly set your liquid foundation, its also great for blending contour, highlight and blush. Love this guy!!

Of course I have many other favorite brushes that I use on a daily basis but these would be the brushes I would repurchase in an instance, if for some reason I lost all my brushes!!! They can be used for multiple applications of different products and they all are silky smooth on the face.

What are your top 5 make up brushes you couldn’t live without?
