Working The Michael Kors Beauty Launch plus Mini Review & Swatches

Hey Guys,

Im so sorry I havent really been around, Ive been super busy preparing for my masters thesis and my up and coming fieldwork trip  (which I’m leaving for in less then a week eeekkkk!!!!!). Apart from that I also had the amazing opportunity to work at the Michael Kors Beauty launch in Magasin Du Nord located in Copenhagen last weekend. The hours were long but boy oh boy did I have a fab time 😀

MichaelKors_beauty_launch_copenhagenIt was absolutely amazing. Not only did I pick up a few products for myself I got to apply all the gorgeous bronzers, polishes, and lip products to some lovely ladies.  Plus I worked with some fantastic girlies that made the experience that much better.

The beauty line is split up into three themes that each have corresponding makeup and fragrance: Sporty, Sexy, Glam. The concept behind the themes is really cool. Its meant to symbolize the diverse sides of being a woman and how we don’t just encapsulate one side but all interchangeably.

MichaelKors_Beauty_SportyThis is the Sporty display, It consists of gorgeous nude lip and nail products, a beautiful bronzer, and a light citrus-y perfume.

MichaelKors_Beauty_SexyThe Sexy products are full of vibrant reds and pinks with a a shimmery golden bronzer. The fragrance is warm and rich with notes of amber. This is my favorite fragrance out of the three. Its meant to emulate the feeling of wearing cashmere on a cold autumn day…and wow does it sure feel like it 😀

MichaelKors_Beauty_GlamMichaelKors_Beauty_Glam2The Glam products are just as beautiful at the others. This theme is more vampy and risque boasting gorgeous plums and burgundys. The bronzer is also packed with golden shimmer perfect for a bronzed goddess look. The perfume in this range is rather floral with strong notes of jasmine.

As you can see the display and stands are spot on, super classy and very stylish. I’m loving the metallic gold detailing. Oh and we cant forget how pretty the packaging is. Its so sleek and looks/feels super expensive!! Now you might be wondering how do these products actually preform? Well keep reading and you’ll find out 😀

Michael_Kors_BeautyI picked up a a bronzer, two lip glosses, a nail polish and a perfume from different themes.

Michael_Kors_BeautyMichael_Kors_Beauty_Glowbronzer2I picked up the Sporty Bronzed Powder in Glow ($50). This was the least shimmery of the three. It has a hint of fine shimmer in it but doesn’t translate on the skin as such. It gives a nice satin/demi-matte finish. The texture is really soft and smooth and its super easy to blend. The pigmentation isn’t insane but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes its good to have less pigmented cheek products as its easier to build then it is to erase!! I’m really loving this guy, its not orange or muddy on the skin and it just gives a natural glow. The packaging is a bit big and bulky but its so beautiful that I don’t really care!!!

Michael_Kors_Beauty_GlamPolishMichael_Kors_Beauty_glampolish_desireI knew I wanted a nail polish so I went with this super rich and dark chocolate brown. Its the Glam Nail Lacquer in Desire ($18). This is such a unique shade, its almost black but not as harsh. It applies beautifully and opaquely in 2 coats. It also has really good longevity lasting about 4 days before chipping (which is pretty long for me!!). The brush is a tad on the thin side but I made it work by loading on the product to the brush.

Michael_Kors_Beauty_sexy_museOf course I picked up some lip products. I went for the Sporty Lip Luster in Muse ($24). Its a really light peach with gold shimmer and glitter. Its more on the sheer side and isn’t super pigmented  but that just makes it an easy to use every day shade. The texture isn’t sticky but you can slightly feel the glitter but it isn’t uncomfortable. Unfortunately the picture doesn’t pick up on the amazing way it reflects light.

Michael_Kors_Beauty_sexy_sirenAnd it would have been straight blasphemy had I not picked up this powerful pink. Its the Sexy Lip Luster in Siren ($24). Its a pinky red packed with red and gold glitters. I wish you could see all its amaizngness, the glitter is wow in your face sparkly. The texture is sticky free and again there is a very slight grit due to the glitter but nothing horrible at all. The pigmentation is pretty insane on this one, opaque in one stroke. When you use the corresponding lipstick you really get a pow in the face statement lip.

Michael_Kors_Beauty_SExy+PerfumeI haven’t purchased a perfume in a while so I thought it was time to treat myself to a new fall fragrance. I went for the Sexy Amber Eau De Parfum ($50). Its a very warm and musky scent with notes of amber. I absolutely love this type of rich and heavy fragrance for fall and winter.

4/5 for this beautiful beauty line. The nail polishes are great and easy to use. The lip products are wearable yet some also pack a punch, there’s definitely something for everybody. The bronzer in Glow is perfect for contouring while the others are pretty cheek and highlight shades. I would have to say that over all I’m pretty impressed. The packaging and quality of the products are great, not surprisingly as Estee Lauder is the company behind the brand so it’s expected 😀

Have any of you tried any of the products from the Michael Kors Beauty range..what are your thoughts? Would you try them?

Review & Swatches: Benefit Hydra-Smooth Lip Color and Ultra-Plush Lip Gloss

Hey Guys,

So Benefit has recently launched a bunch of new goodies including a new box powder, a new brow product, and a bunch of gorgeous lippies 😀 So today I’d thought I’d review and swatch some of the Hydra-Smooth Lip Colors ($19) and Ultra-Plush Lip Glosses ($16) all available from your nearest Benefit Counter.

Here’s a looksey at the new packaging inspired by the Golden Gate bridge and art deco architecture. I love the retro chic vibe 😀

Benefit_LipProducts_packagingThe packaging of the products themselves are also super adorable. Again they are inspired by that 50’s style art deco architecture.

Benefit_LipProducts_lipstickandglossI picked up two of the Ultra Smooth Lip Colors; one in Tutti-Cutie and one in Talk Flirty.

Benefit_LipProducts_Ultra-SmoothLipColorsWhat benefit says:

“hydra-smooth lip color is the fun & flattering future of lipstick! It’s enriched with shea, mango butter and vitamin E for lips that look supple & hydrated. It glides on irresistibly smooth with a double-slanted tip that’s custom designed to define AND fill. This collection was specially created to bring you the Top 10 most universally flattering shades…so they’re easy to pick & even easier to wear. Available in three levels of coverage: sheer, medium and medium-full.

Sheer Coverage
lip service (pink-peach)
air kiss (bubblegum)
tutti-cutie (coral)

Medium Coverage

nice ‘n teasy (rosy neutral)
frisky business (shimmering nude)
juicy details (natural pink)
talk flirty (orchid pink)

Medium Full Coverage
fling thing (very berry)
dare me (true fuchsia)
wing woman (peachy neutral)”

Now on to the swatches:

Benefit_LipProducts_Ultra-Smooth_LipColor_TuttiCutieTutti-Cutie: Sheer coverage coral pink. Super smooth, hydrating and comfortable to wear. It’s extremely easy to apply and glides right onto the lips. Good pigmentation considering its meant to be sheer coverage. the lasting power wasn’t too impressive. I noticed that after 2 hours it was completely gone but my lips were feeling extremely hydrated.

Benefit_Ultra-SmoothLipColor_TalkFlirtyTalk Flirty: Described as a orchid pink with a medium coverage. I would say this is more of a berry mauve shade with slight pink under tones. Again this one is extremely hydrating, easy and smooth to apply. The pigmentation is great for a medium coverage shade. This is an excellent way to rock that berry autumn lip in a more wearable way.

4/5 for the Ultra-Smooth Lip Colors. Absolutely love the packaging. The new tip is easy to use and allows for precision application, at least with the lighter less opaque shades. These lippies are super hydrating, super smooth and glides on effortlessly. The finish on both is rather shiny so no need for a lip gloss (unless you wanted to :D). I like that these products come in a variety of coverage. I also like that they are more on the sheer makes them mess free and more wearable for you more natural guys and gals. The only down side I would say is the longevity factor…although I really don’t mind having to reapply this, not only because its so hydrating but I love pulling out that cute little lip tower 😀

On to the glosses we go 😀 I picked up the Ultra-Plush Lip Glosses in Kiss You and A-Lister.  Benefit_Ultra-PlushLipGlossWhat Benefit says:

“The plushness is poutrageous! Our soft & silky glosses glide on sooo smooth, drenching lips in luscious color that’s never sticky. From crystal clear to hot pink, the luxurious formulas give your lips a kissable, sexy sheen”.

Benefit_Ultra-Plush_LipGloss_KissYouKiss You: Described as a clear fuchsia and that’s exactly what it is. The pigmentation isn’t very strong at all but that’s definitely to be expected since its meant to be sheer. Its very smooth, super hydrating, smells delightful, and glides on easily without sitting in fine lines. Its definitely not sticky and feels rather balm-ish on the lips. The longevity is rather minimal lasting about 2 hours.

Benefit_Ultra-Plush_LipGloss_AListerA-Lister: Described as a bubble gum pink. Its a sheer, cool toned, milky pink with a slight sheen to it. This has really great pigmentation for a sheer gloss. This one is also hydrating, easy to apply and isn’t sticky. Again the longevity lacked a bit with only 2 hours wear.

4/15 for these bad boys. They were super hydrating, extremely smooth, very comfortable and gave a nice shine without a tacky residue. They look gorgeous on their own and work perfectly layered on top of the Ultra-Smooth Lip Colors. The only down side is the longevity. This will definitely not stop me from wearing these guys on a daily basis…I’m already obsessed with both the lipsticks and lip glosses!!!

Have any of you tried the new lip colors or glosses? What do you think…is it worth the price tag?

Review: Macadamia Hair Care

Hey everyone 😀

If you don’t already know, I have curly hair that tends to be rather dry, no mater how much I protect and hydrate it. Its the curse of the curly hair. It also doesn’t help that my hair dresser is all the way in LA. So I only get my hair cut 2 times a year which is a little too little for curly hair that grows out quickly, splits quickly, and dries up quickly.

Also my trip to Dubai didn’t help either. The water there is de-salenated so its quite drying, plus the 40 degree sun definitely does a number on hair. So obviously my hair has been in need of some major treatment. I do have a few treatments at home but they just don’t seem to do the trick for this curly main of mine.

So about a week ago I posted on instagram and twitter that I found some of the Macadamia hair care products at my local super market here in Copenhagen called Fakta. Ive never seen it available here in Denmark before so I jumped on those babies like flies on shit…hahaha!! It definitely wasn’t the whole hair care line but I did get the Rejuvenating Shampoo, Deep Repair Masque, Nourishing Leave in Conditioner, and the Healing Oil Spray.

I’ve gotten to use the products a few times now to be able to share with you how it works on unruly and dry curly hair.

Rejuvenating Shampoo:

I’m not normally too fussy about my shampoos but I have to say that I’m kind of in Love with this. It really leaves my hair feeling clean without that squeaky clean residue left over. Over all I’m really pleased with this shampoo and might even buy the full size when I’m in Cali.

Deep Repair Masque:

Wow this stuff is great. I saw an intimidate diffrence in my hair. It felt and looked so much healthier. It wasn’t screaming for hydration anymore. plus it left my hair smelling so good. like. The packets also have loads of product and I’ve manged to use one packet on 2 occasions so there also great for travel. I like to deep treat my hair about once or twice a week so that’s perfect for short vacations.

Nourishing Leave in Conditioner:

To be honest I didn’t really notice much more of an improvement when i added the leave in conditioner. I did notice though that my hair still looked fresh and healthy the next day. This could be due to that super treatment though.

Healing Oil Spray:

Love this stuff. I use it on wet hair to lock in moisture and on dry hair to freshen up and smooth down any unruly or fly away hairs. A new must for my hair care regime.

8/10 for these products. The shampoo, masque and oil get a 9/10 for their amazingness to control, hydrate and nourish crazy and wild curly hair. They smell delightful, don’t leave a nasty build up (i\I normally go 3-4 days without washing my hair), they don’t induce itchiness, dry scalp or dandruff. Your hair is left feeling fresh and light.

The only product I’m not really impressed with was the leave in conditioner and that’s why this review only gets 8/10. I’m not really sure why I don’t like it. It smells nice and the texture is nice too yet it didn’t really seem to add more moisture. I used the other products without the leave in conditioner and had the same effects so I would skip this one but all the others are amazing. I think I’ll pick up the full sizes when I get to Cali.

Well I’m off on my lovely holiday. I’m heading to London tonight to kick it with my sister and to hit up IMATS on Saturday. Then I’m off to Cali for a month from there. But don’t worry, I’ll be doing loads of shopping so expect some fun hauls and first impressions to come 😀 Plus I have a few great posts ready for upload so keep an eye out.
