Review and Swatches- Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Good day beauty lovers,

So I’m here to continue the Urban Decay reviews. This time I’m talking about the oh so raved about Naked Basics Palette ($27.00 for 0.30 oz.)

IMG_1194IMG_1193Venus:  A soft, off-white demi-matte. Very smooth buttery texture and great pigmentation for a light color. This is the only color in the palette that isn’t matte. I would say its more of a satin finish because it does reflect a great deal of light. I think it’s one of my favorite highlight colors for brow bone and inner corner.

Foxy: A very light yellow/beige matte. Another pigmented, smooth and blend-able color. Also great for highlight, all over lid color, or used as an eraser to blur out imperfections.

Walk of Shame: A very light pinky nude matte. This is one is also buttery smooth.

Naked 2: A rosy taupe matte. This is a great cool toned transition or crease color. So smooth, so blend-able, so pigmented.

Faint: A warm, dusty brown matte. I don’t want to sound redundant here but again this shade is smooth, pigmented and easy to work with. Love this one to define my crease.

Crave: A deep, dark brown/black matte. I’m so happy they threw this color in. It’s great to darken the outer V, to turn your day time look into a smokey night time one. It’s also a great to define the upper and lower lash lines with.

THE VERDICT:

Of course this palette gets a 10/10.

Its been long awaited for, Urban Decay finally came out with a matte neutral palette. And wow did they do a fantastic job. The pigmentation is top notch, so is the blend-ability and buttery texture of all the shadows.

The packaging is also very sleek and compact, it’s really great for travel. You have all the colors you need to create a fresh day time or smokey night time look. I think this palette is also a great accompanying product for the other Naked palettes or any shadows for that matter. Definitely a staple must have for any girl 😀

Swatches from left to right:

Smog: brown satin finish, so creamy, great pigmentation.

Mildew: khaki green with satin finish, creamy, pigmented.

Oil Slick: black with silver glitter, a bit chalky, glitter fall out.

Last Call: pinkish/purple with a satin finish, creamy, great pigmentation.

Chopper: bronze with satin finish, creamy, pigmented.

Maui Wowie: Champagne satin finish (yellow toned), so creamy, extremely pigmented for a light shade.

Shattered: Light blue with shimmer and glitter, creamy, some fall out but not as bad as Oil Slick, great pigment for a light shade.

Polyester Bride: off white satin finish, really creamy, super pigmentation.

Griffter: light pink with shimmer and glitter, creamy, some fall out but not as bad as Oil Slick, great pigment

Sin: champagne satin finish (pink toned), creamy, pigmented for a light shade.

THE VERDICT:

I would give this palette an 8/10.

Over all a great mix of fun bright colors and darker neutrals which are creamy, very well pigmented and easily blendable. But there is a fail within this palette, Oil Slick has a mean fall out, the glitter chunks are just too big…it was a great idea but wasn’t really executed well in my opinion. Although the baby pink and baby blue had a bit of fall out, it really wasn’t that bad, and they were so creamy, and the color pay off was so worth it 😀

Great for a colorful and fun palette. It’s over all a great compilation of shadows as well as the quality and lasting power expected from Urban Decay.
