So Ive been kind of MIA lately due to last week being Copenhagen Fashion Week. I got the pleasure and opportunity to work with the amazing Look Management team to assist and execute hair and make up for some of the amazing shows. I had the most wonderful time. The fast paced tempo backstage was right up my alley!!! So I thought Id share with you some of the shows I assisted and worked on, plus some of the looks I executed.
Day 1 at CPHFW was absolutely fantastic. That day I was primarily assisting the lovely girls from Bomholt Intercoiffure salon, graciously sponsored by L’Oreal. Unfortunately Ive lost my photos from that day apart from the last show, for designer Badwin from China.
Day 2 at CPHFW was where I really got to get my hands dirty with nails and makeup. The first show was Design By Katrin. The make up was so cool, the story behind it all was to emulate raw and strong beauty. Absolutely love the look. The look Management team used Kryolan Aqua Cream in Black to create that fantastic mask, while all other make up was sponsored by the amazing brand Tromborg, who are known in Scandinavia for their amazing mineral products.
I got to do nails on all the lovely models for the Design By Katrin show. There were so many hands and feet to do so my home girl Camilla also painted the day away 😀 So to go with the raw beauty we went for a black matte nail. I used two coats of the black polish, Kalliope from Tromborg, and sealed it off with L’Oreal’s matte top coat. Super easy but really effective and striking.
Camilla and I also got the pleasure to do nails for the Veronica B Vallens show. The look from this collection was elegant and sophisticated with clean tailored lines. The theme was “made to love” represented through the use of soft neutrals and delicate textures. So the nails were kept rather neutral using a light pink (Tromborg’s Euterpe) to create a clean and polished nail. It was super rush rush backstage so I didn’t get to take a pics of the nails, makeup or hair up close so I grabbed these from Google
That evening I returned to Børsen, the old Danish Stock Exchange, to do touch up make up on the presenter for the Danish Fashion Blog Awards. I loved doing that, it was fun, and Emil was super sweet. He already had his base done, due to prior filming that day, so all I needed to use was my trusted Make Up For Ever HD Powder to keep him matte and shine free in front of the crowd and camera. To keep his brows in place I spritzed a tiny amount of hair spray on a spooly. Since I was back stage and on the wings ready for touch ups, I couldn’t really get any pics, but how frickin adorable were the awards for the evening!!!
I got day 3 of CPHFW off, which was much needed especially since day 4 was jam packed with shows plus my own gig freelancing for Michael Kors Beauty in between said shows. On Day 4 we met up at 8am sharp to create the makeup and nails for the BiBi Chemnitz show. This was by far my favorite collection I saw. It had an urban swag with a chicness to it, I want so many pieces from the collection its not even funny.
The men’s clothing was just as impressive as the women’s and were truly off the hook!!! I could definitely see my boyfriend in that white winter jacket. Oh and I helped to create a flawless complexion on these lovely male models 😀
For the nails, the idea was to recreate some of the textures found in the textiles. Rich wools and cozy knits were the inspiration. I used two coats of a light pink (Tromborg’s Selene), then stippled on a silver (Tromborg’s Aveta) with a metal sponge. To get a pop of orange I stippled on Tromborg’s Tellus with the same sponge, then stippled on the black shade Kalliope to the tips of the nails.
Well guys and dolls, that was some of the stuff I experienced and created during the hectic yet fun filled Copenhagen Fashion Week. I really hope I get the opportunity to do it again, perhaps this summer, fingers crossed!! Now that its all over I will go back to my life of thesis writing (only one more month till its due, yey!!!)
