Copenhagen Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014

Hey guys,

So Ive been kind of MIA lately due to last week being Copenhagen Fashion Week. I got the pleasure and opportunity to work with the amazing Look Management team to assist and execute hair and make up for some of the amazing shows. I had the most wonderful time. The fast paced tempo backstage was right up my alley!!! So I thought Id share with you some of the shows I assisted and worked on, plus some of the looks I executed.

look_management_team_CPHFW2014Day 1 at CPHFW was absolutely fantastic. That day I was primarily assisting the lovely girls from Bomholt Intercoiffure salon, graciously sponsored by L’Oreal. Unfortunately Ive lost my photos from that day apart from the last show, for designer Badwin from China.

badwin_cphfw2014-2Day 2 at CPHFW was where I really got to get my hands dirty with nails and makeup. The first show was Design By Katrin. The make up was so cool, the story behind it all was to emulate raw and strong beauty. Absolutely love the look. The look Management team used Kryolan Aqua Cream in Black to create that fantastic mask, while all other make up was sponsored by the amazing brand Tromborg, who are known in Scandinavia for their amazing mineral products.

desigh_by_Katrin_Makeup I got to do nails on all the lovely models for theΒ  Design By Katrin show. There were so many hands and feet to do so my home girl Camilla also painted the day away πŸ˜€ So to go with the raw beauty we went for a black matte nail. I used two coats of the black polish, Kalliope from Tromborg, and sealed it off with L’Oreal’s matte top coat. Super easy but really effective and striking.

desigh_by_Katrin_Makeup_NailsCamilla and I also got the pleasure to do nails for the Veronica B Vallens show. The look from this collection was elegant and sophisticated with clean tailored lines. The theme was “made to love” represented through the use of soft neutrals and delicate textures. So the nails were kept rather neutral using a light pink (Tromborg’s Euterpe) to create a clean and polished nail. It was super rush rush backstage so I didn’t get to take a pics of the nails, makeup or hair up close so I grabbed these from Google :(

Fashionweek-VeronicBVallens Fashionweek-570That evening I returned to BΓΈrsen, the old Danish Stock Exchange, to do touch up make up on the presenter for the Danish Fashion Blog Awards. I loved doing that, it was fun, and Emil was super sweet. He already had his base done, due to prior filming that day, so all I needed to use was my trusted Make Up For Ever HD Powder to keep him matte and shine free in front of the crowd and camera. To keep his brows in place I spritzed a tiny amount of hair spray on a spooly. Since I was back stage and on the wings ready for touch ups, I couldn’t really get any pics, but how frickin adorable were the awards for the evening!!!

danish_fashion_blogger_awards danish_fashion_blogger_awards-2I got day 3 of CPHFW off, which was much needed especially since day 4 was jam packed with shows plus my own gig freelancing for Michael Kors Beauty in between said shows. On Day 4 we met up at 8am sharp to create the makeup and nails for the BiBi Chemnitz show. This was by far my favorite collection I saw. It had an urban swag with a chicness to it, I want so many pieces from the collection its not even funny.

bibi_chemnitz_cphfwThe men’s clothing was just as impressive as the women’s and were truly off the hook!!! I could definitely see my boyfriend in that white winter jacket. Oh and I helped to create a flawless complexion on these lovely male models πŸ˜€

bib_chemnitz_show1For the nails, the idea was to recreate some of the textures found in the textiles. Rich wools and cozy knits were the inspiration. I used two coats of a light pink (Tromborg’s Selene), then stippled on a silver (Tromborg’s Aveta) with a metal sponge. To get a pop of orange I stippled on Tromborg’s Tellus with the same sponge, then stippled on the black shade Kalliope to the tips of the nails.

bib_chemnitz_nails2The make up was absolutely amazing that day too. The girls from the look management team created a “caught in the rain” moment, absolutely stunning!!!

bib_chemnitz_nails_makeupWell guys and dolls, that was some of the stuff I experienced and created during the hectic yet fun filled Copenhagen Fashion Week. I really hope I get the opportunity to do it again, perhaps this summer, fingers crossed!! Now that its all over I will go back to my life of thesis writing (only one more month till its due, yey!!!)

Whats In My Travel Make Up Bag

Hey beautiful people,

So summer is almost here and Uni is done so that means holidays and travel…whooopiiii πŸ˜€ I’m heading off tomorrow for a week to see my sister and then in mid June I will be in London for IMATS (OMG too excited for that!!!) and then off to sunny Cali to visit my parents and brother. So I thought I would share with you guys what make up I bring with me on holiday as well as how and what I pack it in. Lets just get straight in to it.

Makeup_Travel_MUFEI pack most of my make up and skin care in the super great MUFE makeup bag. It’s really cool and holds loads of stuff. Unfortunately I don’t know if its available for purchase as I got it free at a MUFE event. Anyways here’s a little look of the inside…

It has loads of compartments. A mesh zipper area for flatter larger products and two removable plastic ‘pencil case’ type compartments. There’s also a compartment in the very front which I don’t really use for anything. Its a great bag, the removable compartments are basically waterproof and super easy to clean in case of spillage or leakage!!! Whats super cool about the plastic compartments: they’re detachable so you can choose to use all, one or none and its great for keeping everything organized.

Makeup_Travel_LargeMakeup_Travel_large_meshIn the mesh compartment I house most of the larger and fatter products like my Mac MSF in Soft and Gentle, Maybelline Fit me Powder in 125, Mini Daily Brush Cleanser from Sephora, and my Urban Decay Naked Palette.

Makeup_Travel_MUFE_makeupIn one of the plastic compartments I house most of my make up. So lip products like Too Faced Juicy Melons, Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tarte, Mac Lipglass in Betty Bright and NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Beige (even though its a dusty rose…but whatevs!!!) It also fits a mini Hourglass Primer, L’Oreal Lumi Primer, MUFE Brightening Concealer, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 125, Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzer, TheBalm Hot Mama Blush, MUFE HD Powder, Mac Paint Pot in Painterly, and two eyeliner pencils from MUFE in black and brown. I Think I will also pack a nude liner, perhaps my Tarte one but I haven’t decide yet πŸ˜€ I also haven’t decide on which mascara I should take or brow product…oh the difficulties of a a makeup addict!!! hahaha.

Makeup_Travel_MUFE_SkincareThe other plastic compartment houses my skin care stuff. I use a lot of mini and sample versions of products I already own. So I have a mini make up remover and toner from Sephora, my Josie Maran Argan Oil as my night ‘cream’, a mini Murad sample of there eye cream and daily moisturizer, and a mini Lancome Vissionaire as my serum. I also have my Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 125 and my Mac Fix+ to hydrate and and set my make up πŸ˜€

Makeup_Travel_BrushesMy makeup brushes travel in the Sigma holder which doubles as a stand which is super convenient and I add a few smaller brushes in my Too Faced travel brush container. Most of my brushes are protected with Brush Guards, it helps keep there shape too!!

Makeup_Travel_HairAnd lastly I keep all my hair care in this little black Chanel pouch. Again I have mini versions of my fave hair products like my Ouidad Serum Glaze, Aveda Be Curly and a little empty container that I filled with my Ouidad hair gel. I always take a mini of my favorite perfume Flower Bomb by Victor and Rolf.

After everything is packed and sealed I throw it in my suitcase and wedge it in between clothing for extra safety.

Tips for Packing Makeup:

  • Keep samples and ask for samples of your favorite products, they are perfect for travel as they take up very little space.
  • As an alternative to sample products, buy empty containers and fill them up with your fave products.
  • To prevent powders from shattering or breaking stick a little powder poof in your powder compacts, this will help avoid any cracks.
  • Wedge your make up bags in between clothing for extra cushioning (you no how those airport guys throw your bags around!!!)
  • If your extra paranoid about your eye shadows and palettes breaking then wrap them up in a pair of ankle warmers or a fluffy sweater.
  • If you have a really nice and expensive make up bag that you don’t want to ruin (lets face it things brake and spill!!) keep things in little plastic baggies. It contains the mess and makes it easy to clean πŸ˜€
  • Protect your makeup brushes by housing them in a separate compartment and use Brush Guards for shape and extra protection.

I hope this post has been helpful. If not I hope it’s been fun πŸ˜€ I know it was for me!!!

I would love to hear your packing tips so please do leave a comment with great suggestions on how to keep your make up safe during air travel πŸ˜€

Makeup Trade with Lola’s Charms

Hi Lovelies,

I have a really fun and cool post for you guys. I did a makeup trade with my girl Cristina aka Lola’s Charms. We set a budget and decided to get each other some makeup. Christina lives in the US so she hooked me up with aΒ  bunch of stuff you cant get over here in Denmark and I sent her stuff you cant really get out in the US. Hopefully she gets my package soon πŸ˜€Β  Anyways enough blabbering, here’s all the really cool stuff she got me…

She definitely hooked it up big time!!! And I absolutely love everything!!! Here’s a closer look at all my new goodies…

Makeup_Trade_LolasCharms_lipstickLook at all those amazing lip products…Christina sent me two Revlon Lip Butters in Sweet Tarte and Tutti Fruitti, Revlon Color Stay Ultimate Suede in 020 Front Row, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Blam Stain in Sweetheart/Valentine and Wet N Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color in Click My Hyper Pink (love that name!!!!). She chose the perfect shades for me πŸ˜€

Makeup_Trade_LolasCharms_milaniIve always wanted to try some of the products from Milani so she hooked me up with this beautiful baked eye shadow palette in 05 Glamourous Gems. Perfect for a brown eyed red head like me πŸ˜€

Makeup_Trade_LolasCharms_nailpolishMakeup_Trade_LolasCharms_essieAnd of course she knows how obsessed I am with nail polish and nail art so she included some of the Wet n Wild polishes in Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Glamourous both from the Fergie Collection, OPI Which is Witch from the Oz Collection and these awesomely cool nail patches by Essie in Embrace the Lace and Sneek-e. I was so in love with these patches, when I opened my goodie box I had to try them right away so I gave myself a funky mani using Embrace The Lace.

Makeup_Trade_LolasCharms_EssieManiThese are probably the best nail patches Ive ever tried. It turned out soooooo cute…well minus the bloody cuticle, I may have went a little crazy with the cuticle cutters!!!! I will have a more in depth review of these bad boys once Ive fully tested them out. But so far so good πŸ˜€

Thanks again Cristina for spoiling me rotten with all these American goodies. If you haven’t checked out Cristina’s blog you have to, shes amazing and has really great posts. You can check her out and follow her here at

Now that spring is here and Uni’s done for the semester Ive got plenty of holiday plans and trips. I’m off on Wednesday and slowly preparing the packing phase. I will have a post for you guys on what makeup I take with me on holiday and how I pack it. I will be in Dubai for a week to see my sister so I should hopefully have a bunch of new goodies to share with you all when I return.
