Review & Swatches: Hourglass Ambient Lighting & Blush Palettes

Over a year ago Hourglass came out with their coveted powders in a trio palette named Ambient Lighting and late last year they came out with the Ambient Blush Palette. Ive had some time to play around with these bad boys and can finally give you guys some feedback.

Hourglass_AmbientLighting&BlushPalettesHere’s the low down on these bad boys….

Ambient Lighting Palette

  • Trio of Ambient finishing powders that capture, diffuse, and soften the way light reflects on skin. Includes a setting powder, highlight and bronzer.
  • This palette includes Incandescent Light, a shade exclusive to this palette, and two existing shades, Dim Light, and Radiant Light.
  • Ambient Lighting Powder utilizes photoluminescent technology to filter out harsh light and refine the appearance of the complexion to deliver a lit from within glow.
  • Soft smooth texture and finely milled powders absorb into the skin instead of sitting on top for a beautiful and natural effect.

Ambient Blush Palette

  • Creates seamless, subtle, multi-dimensional color for natural-looking radiance.
  • Created with patented Photoluminescent Technology – with a range of vibrant cheek colors, that’s buildable, lightweight and subtly illuminating.
  • Soft smooth texture and finely milled powders absorb into the skin instead of sitting on top for a beautiful and natural effect.
  • This palette features three shades; Luminous Flash- a champagne rose blush fused with Luminous Light powder for a subtle glimmer, Incandescent Electra- a cool peach hue blended with Incandescent Light powder for a radiant glow and Mood Exposure- a soft plum tone with Mood Light powder to brighten the complexion.

THE VERDICT:

Both these palettes get a 5/5.

The quality of the product and packaging is amazing. I love the subtle and natural effect you get from waering these.  It has a super finely milled texture, so soft and smooth. You definitely get that lit from within glow. Hourglass do mention that the palettes are universal yet I think they are more suited towards light to medium skin tones. The palettes are available at Sephora, Net-A-Porter, and SpaceNK and cost around 75 Euros each.

Have any of you tried these bad boys? Whats your verdict?

February Beauty Favorites 2015

March is here which means its time for the monthly round up of my favorite makeup products. I have some new goodies and some oldies to present so keep reading for more details.

Jan/Feb_BeautyFavorites_2015

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizers:

I use both the Nourishing Primer for my unsightly dry patches and the Smoothing Primer to fill in any pores, even out the texture of my skin, while also doing some oil control for my t-zone. I wont rant on about these primers because I’ve done a huge post on them (which you can find here) but all I have to say is these guys have revolutionized the way my makeup applies and lasts.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder and Mac Powder Puff:

My go to for setting my under eye concealer and the highlighted points on my face has go to be the LMSBP. This powder is so finely milled it never looks cakey, it adds luminosity, and prevents creasing.

The last month I’ve been obsessed with applying this (and all setting powders) with the Mac Powder Puff. It allows for the product to really sink into the skin without disturbing the foundation or the concealer.

LauraMercier_SecretBrighteningPowder_MacPowderPuffBenefit Hoola Bronzer:

This is a staple in my collection that I always come back to. It never fails as the perfect bronzing and contouring product. Its smooth in texture making it easy to blend and lasts for all day wear.

Benefit_HoolaBronzerHourglass Ambient Blush Palette:

This little palette is just so perfect. The colors are amazing and they give the most gorgeous lit from within glow on the cheeks. The formula is soft and finely milled for an easy and blendable application.

Hourglass_AmbiantLighting_Blush_PaletteMac Stone Lipliner, Limecrime Chinchilla Lipstick, Make Up For Ever Lab Shine:

Ive been really obsessed with wearing grey lipstick and been wearing these guys non stop. I start with Mac Stone Lip Liner and add Lime Crime Chinchilla Lipstick on top. To make it more wearable i’ll either top off with Make Up For Ever Lab Shine in S0 for a more nude version or Lab Shine in D2 for a more purple vibe.

October 2014 Beauty Favorites

So I’ve totally been slaking with the favorites posts but now I’m back and I think I have officially redeemed myself!!!!!

First monthly love has got to be the new Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows. The color selection is insane, the pigmentation is out of this world, and the formula is the creamiest softest gel to powder finish ever.

MakeUpForEvEr_ArtistShadowsMakeUpForEvEr_ArtistShadows_mufeFor my lips I’ve either been rocking Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense lipstick in 48, the perfect deep plummy red  or going full on nude with Mac Lip liner in Spice and Lipglass in Obviously Bare.

mac_lipliner_spice_macLipglass_MUFE_RougeArtistIntenseI’m still obsessing and using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour kit. It has everything I need and does the job magnificently.

anastasia_beverely_Hills_contourkitI’ve found a new holy grail eyeliner that actually stays put in my waterline all day long without smearing, smudging, bleeding or any of that nasty stuff. Its the Hourglass Mechanical Gel Liner in Obsidian. The tip is super fine which makes doing the waterline a jiff and allows precision if used on the lid or under the bottom lashes. It’s super creamy, dries quickly, lasts all day, and is highly pigmented.

hourglass_mechanical_gel_linerI’m taking a break from my Depend Cosmetic Gel Polish and been spreading the love to my normal polishes. Ive been rocking OPI In The Cable-Car Pool Lane non stop at the moment. If you haven’t noticed I have a thing for deep plummy-reds!!
