Fun Nail Art Inspiration using Depend Cosmetic GelLack

Hey Everyone :)

So to no surprise I’ve been super MIA… after getting back from holiday I started my full time job with Make Up For Ever, was plagued with a nasty flu and I’m now finally recovering from a mean old case of sinus infection, hence the lack of posts. I really need to come up with a posting plan so I don’t ever let my blog be on the back burner. So I’d thought I’d come back with some fun nail art that I’ve created over the past month or so.

This is just some inspiration for all you lovely folks but if you’d like a tutorial or a run down then definitely leave a comment and ill try my hardest to give a step by step.

How to Create Gorgeous Spring Inspired Nail Art Using Depend Cosmetic Gellack

Hey Everyone :)

Spring is in the air and It just gets me all excited for all the fun colors I get to play with. Lately Ive been really obsessing over pastel shades from eyeshadow and lip gloss, and most certainly nail polish. Since Ive been doing a bunch of freelancing normal nail polish just doesnt cut it for longevity so I’ve been using the Depend Cosmetic Gellack gel polish and LED Lamp. Your nails are left super shiny, there’s no “drying time”, and it lasts for 2 weeks. Whats not to love!!? So I though why not share how great they look and how easy it is to create some fun nail art for spring :)

depend_gellackMy boyfriend was kind enough to get me the stater kit, for Christmas, which included the LED Lamp, before and After Cleanser, Base Coat, and Top Coat. The kit and an extensive range of gorgeous shades is available from the Depend Cosmetic website right here.

Before you begin…

1. Make sure you have all your tools, colors, etc. nearby, and prep your work space with kitchen roll. Give your self a dry cleaning pushing your cuticles up using an orange wood stick. If needed cut any excess skin using a cuticle trimmer. Be very careful those things can be sharp!!

2. Make sure the nail is free from any nail polish. Buff the nail to remove any surface oil and create a clean surface for the polish to adhere to.

3. Use the Before and After Cleanser to prep the nail. It is very important to not touch the nail after this step to avoid oils to be transferred to the nail and thereby jeopardizing the gels ability to adhere to the nail. In essence the dryer the nail the better.

Tip: Avoid giving yourself a “damp or wet” cuticle cleaning i.e placing your hand in water for 5 minutes, as this will provide too much moisture to the nail and can hinder the gel from adhering properly.

Lavender Polka Dots

depend_gellack_polkadot_nailartdepend_gellack_1To get this fun lavender polka dotted look all you need to do is…

1. Apply a thin layer of Step 2 (clear base coat) to both of your thumbs and cure in the LED lamp for 30 seconds. Apply to the last four fingers on your left hand, cure for 30 seconds, repeat on the right hand.

2. Apply one thin layer of Pretty Purple to both thumbs, cure for 30 seconds. Do the same to remaining fingers on left hand cure, repeat for right hand. Repeat steps and Apply a second layer of Pretty Purple. Apply one layer of French White to Ring fingers and cure. Repeat for a second layer and cure. Tip: If you get a bit of polish on your skin, no worries, just use a tooth pick to pick up the polish around the skin or cuticle before you cure.

3. Use a dotting tool to or tooth pick to apply Pretty Purple dots on the ring finger. Tip: Start in the center of the nail working from cuticle to tip, dip tool into gellack polish for each dot to insure same size and opacity.

4. Use a dotting tool to apply French White in one line start dotting from cuticle to tip. Cure thumbs, then left hand, then right hand for 30 seconds each. Tip: the less pressure you apply the smaller the dot will be, the more pressure the larger the dot will be.

5. Apply Step 4 (clear top coat) to thumbs, cure for 30 seconds, apply to remaining fingers on left hand, cure, repeat for right hand.

6. Saturate the Before and After Cleanser on a cotton pad and rub on cured nails to remove sticky residue and leave behind an amazing glossy shine. Voila and your nails will be chip free and shiny for 2 weeks.

Step by Step Leopard Nail Art Tutorial

Hey guys,

I love me a good old leopard manicure so I thought I would share with you how to achieve it in a few quick and easy steps.

leopard_Nailart_Tutorial9Step 1: Prep your nail by pushing back the cuticle and cutting any extra skin. File, buff and shine the nail for a clean and smooth surface.

leopard_Nailart_Tutorial1Step 2: Add a base coat and paint two coats of your favorite polish. I used Nailtiques as my base coat and OPI The Thrill of Brazil.

leopard_Nailart_Tutorial2Step 3: Draw the outline of the leopard spots using a black nail art pen or a tooth pick dipped in polish. Simply draw random squiggly C shapes on the nail.
