Hey Guys and Dolls,
Dont you just hate when your under eye concealer starts creasing, or your winged liner is uneven or your eyebrows just wont stay in place? Well in today’s post id like to share some of my tips and tricks for battling common makeup hardships from mascara mishaps, unruly brows and so many other makeup and beauty dilemmas. So keep reading to uncover some of my easy to do makeup tips and tricks with products you probably already own in your stash!!
How to stop concealer from creasing under the eye area?
This is an issue many people struggle with and it could be due to the consistency of the product you are using, generally speaking the thicker the product the more probability it will crease. I prefer a liquid concealer as a apposed to a cream as I feel they crease less under my eyes. My favorite has got to be the Mac Pro Longwear Concealer. This stuff is super high coverage and barely ever creases on me.
Unfortunately some people genetically have more fine lines under the eyes and maturing skin doesn’t help much either. So to help plump up and fill the the spaces try using the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer. This stuff is really great at creating an even surface and to help with longevity.
If you don’t have this in your stash, don’t worry, try using an eyeshadow primer before you apply your under eye concealer. This should help fill in the fine lines and keep the product in place all day long. I like to use the Mac Paint Pot in Painterly or the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Don’t for get to set the concealer with the tiniest amount of powder for extra longevity.
How to keep eyeliner in the waterline from running?
Ive struggled with this for years now and have tried almost every eyeliner under the sun now and they just never seem to last or stay put. The best trick I’ve found for this issue is setting you waterline eyeliner with some eyeshadow, as you would perhaps set your liquid foundation with powder. Its keeps the color bolder and vibrant for much longer. Give it a try and I’m sure you’ll notice a huge difference. Plus its a great way to create your own eyeliner shades by mixing your liners with shadow colors you already have. No need to buy every color out there when you can make your own. Ive been almost exclusively using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Covet Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir and my MUFE Eyeshadow in shade nr.04 when Ive been rocking black in the waterline.
How to get a perfect and even cat eye?
Cat eyeliner is definitely one of the things I used to struggle the most with. It takes a lot of practice and patience. Ive finally gotten the art down but for those of you who struggle with getting a sharp and even line then try using a bit of scotch tape.
Cute a small piece and place it on the outer corners of each eye following your bottom lash line pointing towards the end of your eyebrow. This will help ensure the angle of the line is equal on both sides. Then go in and start lining. The tape will also ensure that you have a nice crisp and sharp line.
Remember to peel the tape on and off the back of your hands a few times before applying it to the eye area so you don’t irritate the delicate skin around the eye area. And do you under eye concealer afterwards to eliminate accidentally removing some of it as you peel off the tape. Diana Lianto created this great pictorial for this technique and other eyeliner techniques which you can check out on her fabulous blog Make Me Up Before You Go Go right here.
How to turn a glossy lipstick into a matte one?
I have pretty dry lips and although I love the look of matte lipsticks I find them to be unflattering on my dry crispy lips. So instead of going out and purchasing matte finishes I make my own with the hydrating and glossy formulas I already own by dusting a small amount of translucent powder over the lips to create a matte finish. I normally use my MUFE HD Powder loose or pressed version.
Take a tissue and rip the layers apart. Place it in front of your lips and dab the translucent powder over it to give a light dusting which will create a perfect matte lip with the colors you already own in your stash.

How to keep eyebrows in place?
I love to spend time on my brows trying to create a perfect and sharp brow. But after Ive spent 10 minutes my hairs tend to become unruly and start to act a little wild. If you don’t have a brow gel at home spray a small amount of hairspray on a spooly and run through your brows to keep those bad boys in place all day. I Like to use the Got2b 2 Sexy Collagen Lift Effect Big Volume Hairspray with Extra Hold, doesn’t make my brows look or feel crunchy which is imperative.
How to avoid getting mascara all over your eye lid and under eye area?
Of course this is another thing that takes practice, and even up to this day sometimes I manage to get mascara all over my nose. But don’t worry if you happen to make some mascara messes. Just let it completely dry, take a Q-tip and lightly rub the spot, and the mascara spot should just flake off with ease leaving your eyeshadow and any other work in tact. Ive found this to work with most mascaras, even waterproof ones.
