Top 5 Most Amazing Waterproof & Sweatproof Make Up For Ever Products

Hey Guys,

MakeUpForEver_Waterproof&Sweatproof_MakeupSo summer is in full gear here in Europe which means the heat and sun comes along with a heavy dose of humidity! If there’s one thing I’ve learned, makeup is not a fan of humidity or sweat…it breaks down your make up making it patchy and not so long lasting. So to by pass all those yukky makeup situations I’ve complied a list of the most amazing waterproof, sweat proof and humidity proof products, and who does it better than Make Up For Ever!!

MakeUpForEver_Waterproof&Sweatproof_Makeup_HDPowder1. HD Powder… I cant live without it in the summer. I tend to be on the dry side but in the summer I become pretty shiny and oily thanks to the humidity. This stuff keeps my makeup looking flawless and fresh for hours on end.

MakeUpForEver_Waterproof&Sweatproof_Makeup_Aquamatics2. Aquamatics… these new bad boys have been a real life saver for me this summer. They are 100% waterproof, smudge proof and just generally proof haha. Once these guys set that’s it, it wont budge a bit!! The color selection is great including fun bright shades and perfect neutrals. These are the only products I’ve found that last all day long in my waterline without leaking or smearing!!!

MakeUpForEver_Waterproof&Sweatproof_Makeup_Aquamatics_AquaBrow3. Aqua Brow… My holy grail eyebrow products. As the name suggests this waterproof cream/gel is amazing. It’s so easy to work with, dries quickly and wont smudge, not from your hair swiping across, or an accidental swipe of the hand, and not to mention straight up swimming .

MakeUpForEver_Waterproof&Sweatproof_Makeup_Aquamatics_AquaBlack4. Aqua Black… I’m obsessed with cat liner at the moment and feel incomplete without it. This is another waterproof product that lasts all day without chipping or fading. The texture and consistency is soft and creamy yet not too wet or too dry for that matter. Plus it has a little sealer so it doesn’t dry out!!!!

MakeUpForEver_Waterproof&Sweatproof_Makeup_Aquamatics_AquaLip5. Aqua Lip…Best lip liners EVER!!!!!!!!! These guys really don’t budge. My lipstick lasts all day on top of these bad boys. The texture is soft yet stiff enough for maximum control. They dont dry my lips out either so they also work great on their own.

Sure these things might seem perfect for those hot summer days but these bad boys are perfect for those cold, windy, rainy, and snowy winters too, which happens to be right around the corner!! What are some of your favorite long lasting products? Have you tired any of these from Make Up For Ever? Keep a look out on my blog because I’ll be featuring the new Artist Shadows (next level eye shadows for sure!!) and Black Liners (launching at MUFE in Sephora Illum on Wednesday August 13)

Makeup Tips and Tricks for Creasing Concealer, Winged Liner, and Other Beauty Blunders

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Dont you just hate when your under eye concealer starts creasing, or your winged liner is uneven or your eyebrows just wont stay in place? Well in today’s post id like to share some of my tips and tricks for battling common makeup hardships from mascara mishaps, unruly brows and so many other makeup and beauty dilemmas. So keep reading to uncover some of my easy to do makeup tips and tricks with products you probably already own in your stash!!

makeup_tips&TricksHow to stop concealer from creasing under the eye area?

This is an issue many people struggle with and it could be due to the consistency of the product you are using, generally speaking the thicker the product the more probability it will crease. I prefer a liquid concealer as a apposed to a cream as I feel they crease less under my eyes. My favorite has got to be the Mac Pro Longwear Concealer. This stuff is super high coverage and barely ever creases on me.

mac_pro_longwear_concealerUnfortunately some people genetically have more fine lines under the eyes and maturing skin doesn’t help much either. So to help plump up and fill the the spaces try using the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer. This stuff is really great at creating an even surface and to help with longevity.

Smashbox_PhotoFinish_Hydrating_UnderEyePrimerIf you don’t have this in your stash, don’t worry, try using an eyeshadow primer before you apply your under eye concealer. This should help fill in the fine lines and keep the product in place all day long. I like to use the Mac Paint Pot in Painterly or the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Don’t for get to set the concealer with the tiniest amount of powder for extra longevity.

Ive struggled with this for years now and have tried almost every eyeliner under the sun now and they just never seem to last or stay put. The best trick I’ve found for this issue is setting you waterline eyeliner with some eyeshadow, as you would perhaps set your liquid foundation with powder. Its keeps the color bolder and vibrant for much longer. Give it a try and I’m sure you’ll notice a huge difference. Plus its a great way to create your own eyeliner shades by mixing your liners with shadow colors you already have. No need to buy every color out there when you can make your own. Ive been almost exclusively using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Covet Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir and my MUFE Eyeshadow in shade nr.04 when Ive been rocking black in the waterline.

AnastasiaBeverlyHills_CoverWaterProofEyelinerHow to get a perfect and even cat eye?

Cat eyeliner is definitely one of the things I used to struggle the most with. It takes a lot of practice and patience. Ive finally gotten the art down but for those of you who struggle with getting a sharp and even line then try using a bit of scotch tape.

Cute a small piece and place it on the outer corners of each eye following your bottom lash line pointing towards the end of your eyebrow. This will help ensure the angle of the line is equal on both sides. Then go in and start lining. The tape will also ensure that you have a nice crisp and sharp line.

Remember to peel the tape on and off the back of your hands a few times before applying it to the eye area so you don’t irritate the delicate skin around the eye area. And do you under eye concealer afterwards to eliminate accidentally removing some of it as you peel off the tape. Diana Lianto created this great  pictorial for this technique and other eyeliner techniques which you can check out on her fabulous blog Make Me Up Before You Go Go right here.

How to turn a glossy lipstick into a matte one?

I have pretty dry lips and although I love the look of matte lipsticks I find them to be unflattering on my dry crispy lips. So instead of going out and purchasing matte finishes I make my own with the hydrating and glossy formulas I already own by dusting a small amount of translucent powder over the lips to create a matte finish. I normally use my MUFE HD Powder loose or pressed version.

Take a tissue and rip the layers apart. Place it in front of your lips and dab the translucent powder over it to give a light dusting which will create a perfect matte lip with the colors you already own in your stash.

How to keep eyebrows in place?

I love to spend time on my brows trying to create a perfect and sharp brow. But after Ive spent 10 minutes my hairs tend to become unruly and start to act a little wild. If you don’t have a brow gel at home spray a small amount of hairspray on a spooly and run through your brows to keep those bad boys in place all day. I Like to use the Got2b 2 Sexy Collagen Lift Effect Big Volume Hairspray with Extra Hold, doesn’t make my brows look or feel crunchy which is imperative.

GotToBe_HairSpray_SpoolyHow to avoid getting mascara all over your eye lid and under eye area?

Of course this is another thing that takes practice, and even up to this day sometimes I manage to get mascara all over my nose. But don’t worry if you happen to make some mascara messes. Just let it completely dry, take a Q-tip and lightly rub the spot, and the mascara spot should just flake off with ease leaving your eyeshadow and any other work in tact. Ive found this to work with most mascaras, even waterproof ones.

Well those were just a few of my tips and tricks for some of the most common issues Ive noticed people come across when applying and doing makeup. I hope that this post has been some what helpful and If you have any great tips and tricks do leave a comment below!!

My Favorite Setting Powders & Tips For Avoiding Cake Face

Hey Guys,

So today I thought Id talk a little bit about setting powders (in the context of using a liquid base). Setting powders do wonders, they can help set your cream under eye concealer so it doesn’t crease, it can help with oil and shine control, give a radiant look to the skin, and it can help prolong your foundation and make up. The following products are some of my favorite setting powders with rather varying finishes and purposes.

IMG_9514For shine control and longevity look for a transparent powder like the Make Up For Ever HD Powder. This particular translucent powder works on all skin tones, sets the make up for maximum longevity, and does an amazing job at shine control. Not to mention this product looks amazing in pictures and on camera by controlling the white cast that can appear  in photos.

Favorite_longwear_beauty_products_MUFE_HDPowderAnother great powder to get you camera ready is the Urban Decay Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Translucent Setting Powder. The finish on this is a little less matteifying then the MUFE HD powder and has more of a skin like quality. It doesn’t create flash back and makes the skin glow in a natural way. Love this product but definitely don’t care for the packaging. The sponge is super annoying and impracticable, I just take it off when in use and replace when its stored away to avoid a loose powder catastrophe. (side note: I wouldn’t recommend this product to dark skinned guys and gals as it does have a light flesh tone color, which may create an ashy appearance).

UrbanDecay_razorSharpUltraDefintion_finishingPowderThe Ben Nye Translucent Face Powder in Fair is a wonderful setting powder for the under eye area. Its almost translucent but has a slight pale-pink tone to help brighten under the eye area (Its like the Banana Powder for light skinned folks!!). It doesn’t cake up or dry the area and helps my concealer be crease free all day long.

bennye_facepowderIf your not worried about flash back in photos and your going for a more natural look then I highly recommend the Mac Mineralized Skin Finishes. The finish of this product is gorgeous, it makes the skin look so radiant and fresh. It helps my make up last and helps with minimal shine control without completely mattifying the face. Plus the shade range is extensive. I like to use it either to set my foundation and to add a bit more coverage (as its not translucent yet is on the sheer side) or in the summer on its own just to create a fresh and even skin tone. It lasts all day long and never fails.

Mac_MSFAnother similar product is the Mac Select Sheer Loose Powder. It has the same type of light reflecting properties but also does a slightly better job at oil control. There is a small shade range but due to its sheer nature the possibility of finding the right shade is high. The only down side is that its loose and thus prone to making a mess.

mac_selectSheerLossePowderThings To Keep In Mind When Working With Setting Powder:

  1. When applying powder remember to tap the brush to remove excess product. Its better to apply thin layers and easier to correct then applying too much!
  2. Use a light hand and a large fluffy brush to disperse a sheer wash of product (the denser the brush the more product transferred onto the skin!!). This will help avoid and/or minimize the chance of cake face.
  3. When applying powder try to push the brush and product into the skin, rather than swiping, to avoid moving or disturbing the make up underneath. Another option is to use a large fan brush or a powder puff to roll product onto the skin to minimize disturbance.
  4. Use a setting spray, whether for oil control or dewyness, to further set make up and to sheer down powder if you accidentally went over board.
  5. If you lean more towards oily skinned avoid heavy dewy or light reflecting powders whereas my dry skinned girls should go for the opposite.
  6. When choosing setting powder consider what you want it to do as well as your skin type and shade: are you looking to look flawless on camera, control oil, maximize longevity or all of the above?

I love all these powders for different reasons but one thing they have in common is their ability to stand up to their individual claims and their ability to adapt to skin for a flawless long lasting finish. What do you guys think, are any of these your favorites too?
