Hey there beauty addicts,
Today I’ve got a review and swatches of Kat Von D’s True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Starstruck. I purchased this quad in the summer of 2012, it was on sale at Sephora for $14 so I had to grab it. I have one other single eyeshadow from Kat Von D’s line and its a duo-chrome…its amazing…so I thought why not pick up one of the quads.
The packaging is made from sturdy matte plastic, contains a good sized mirror (not pictured here) and four satin/shimmery eye shadows.
Hermit: A yellow gold with shimmer reflex. This is the only color that I found to be a bit disappointing. It doesn’t have a very even color distribution and it’s also a bit chunky. I think the pigmentation potential for this color would have been out of this world but unfortunately this one shade just doesn’t hit the mark for me.
Unrequited: A warm amber red with shimmer finish. This color is my favorite in the whole palette. Its so creamy, finely milled, super pigmented, and very easy to blend.
Pagan Poetry: A mid toned copper brown with shimmer finish. This is also a very lovely and buttery color. The blend-ability, pigmentation, and application of this color is phenomenal.
Fallen: A cool dark brown with bronze under tones. Another great shade. It’s definitely not as buttery as Unrequited or Pagan Poetry but still very nice, easy to blend, and decent pigmentation.
I would give this little guy 8/10.
The packaging is cute, sturdy, and small enough to take with you on travel. The majority of the shades are well pigmented, buttery, and very beautiful but I do think this palette is missing a light highlight shade for the brow bone and perhaps even a mat color for blending or crease work.
It’s a great palette to create a warm and neutral day time look, just add a highlight color and some black in your outer V to smoke it out for night time. This is the look I created using the palette.
