Review & Swatches: Too Faced Summer Eyes 2013 Palette

Hey guys and dolls,

I picked up a bunch of new eye shadow palettes while I was in Cali and I thought I’d start reviewing and swatching them for you. Yesterday I posted my review of the Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in Coral Oasis which you can see here. Today it’s the Too Faced Summer Eyes 2013 Palette ($36). I picked mine up at Naimies Beauty in North Hollywood But I’ve also seen it here on Ulta.com  and on ebay.com

TooFaced_SummerEyePaletteThe palette was originally released in 2012 in the traditional Too Faced cardboard boxes. This 2013 edition is housed in a sturdy metal tin. It also comes with idea cards. This palette contains three large shadows which could double as face highlighters and blushes as well as six other shades in a variety of colors and finishes.

TooFaced_SummerEye_1TooFaced_SummerEye_2TooFaced_SummerEye_SwatchesSeashell: A cool and light toned peachy pink with a matte finish.

Peach Fuzz: A cream shade with a peach undertone and tiny gold micro glitter.

Sunbeam: A yellow based cream with satin finish.

TooFaced_SummerEye_Swatches_2Plumeria: A cool toned frosty pink.

Coral Crush: A coral peach shade with gold micro gitter

Mermaid: A shimmery cool toned turquoise blue.

TooFaced_SummerEye_Swatches3Cocoa Beach: A cool toned taupe brown with a shimmer finish.

Chocolate Sun: A warm toned dark brown with gold micro glitter

Toasted Coconut: A cool toned medium brown with a matte finish.

THE VERDICT:

9/10 for this gorgeous summer palette. I love the packaging, super sturdy and travel friendly. There’s a great range of shades to create a soft summer look but easily vamped up for a smokey night time creation. The pigmentation is very lovely. Its not the most pow wow in your face pigmentation but the color payoff is great to create soft summer looks and warm smokey eyes. The fall out is minimal with this palette…just remember the cardinal rule..tap your brush before you apply. The texture of the shadows are amazing, super buttery and soft. Truly easy to blend together and out for a seamless look. The longevity of the shadows with a base last all day long, even on those warm summer days. I love the inclusion of the Shade Mermaid and Coral Rush..as well as the different tones of brown to really create dimension to your look. The only downfall with this palette is the similarity between the shades Peach Fuzz and Sun Beam. Apart from that this is one of my favorite summer palettes at the moment 😀

Have any of you tried this palette? Whats your thoughts?

June Favorites

Hey guys and dolls,

So July is here and that means its that time of month again…where I share all my favorite beauty and makeup products from this past month 😀

June_Beauty_Favorites

This time around is a bit different because Ive been traveling but of course Ive brought some of my most loved and used products.

June_Beauty_Favoryes_Smashbox_CCCreamFor my skin Ive been loving the new Smash Box CC cream. I have it in the shade Light/Medium. The coverage is great for a CC type cream, it really does a great job at color correcting, especially the redness around my nose and chin. It makes my skin glow and its feels very light weight. Its super hydrating and I haven’t experienced any breakout with it either. The finish is on the dewy side. I do find that I tend to get a little extra shiny at the end of the day but a little bit of MUFE HD powder on top solves the problem.

June_Beauty_Favorites_MUFE_Pro_Finish_PowderIve also been really impressed with the MUFE Pro Finish Powder. I use it on its own for light coverage or use it on top of the CC cream to set and to add a little more coverage!!

June_Beauty_Favorites_MAC_Concealer

The Mac Pro Longwear Concealer in NC20 I usually use in winter for covering blemishes. But now its way too light and it works amazing as an under eye concealer and brightener. It doesn’t crease on me and is definitely long wearing. It’s super natural looking too. Really loving this product 😀

June_Beauty_Faves_LayraMercier

The Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is just WOW for setting the under eye area!!! Its almost translucent and really reflects light nicely. Its really perfect for light skin tones.

June_Beauty_Favorites_UrbanDecay_24/7_PencilIve been keeping my eyes pretty simple these last few weeks. So for a pop of color I like to add the UD 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Covet in my lower waterline.

June_Beauty_Favorites_D&G_Eyliner

I also like to use the D&G Crayon Intense eyeliner in nr. 22 in my waterline. Its a fun alternative to a nude color in the waterline. It brightens the eye area but in a funky fresh way.

June_Beauty_Favorites_Mac

Im all about fun and bright lips in the summer especially corals. Razzler Dazzler from Mac is my ultimate fave at the moment. Its the perfect light peachy coral pink. Love it!!

Well those were some of my most used and loved products of the past month. What were your most loved beauty items?

Review & Swatches: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Hello Lovelies,

It’s another bright and sunny summer day here in Copenhagen so I thought it would be rather fitting to share with you my new favorite summer lip products: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters.

Revlon_ColorBurst_LipButters_Review&SwatchesI only have three of these bad boys and oh man oh man do I want more. I’ll definitely be stalking up on these when I head to Cali for summer holiday. If you don’t already, no these little guys are super moisturizing sheer lipsticks. There almost like a lip balm with a powerful color punch. They smell delightful and feel so great on the lips. They are an easy and hassle free everyday lip color. They don’t bleed or sit on the dry patches or lines on your lips. They give a more sheer coverage then lipstick but by no means are they a tinted lip balm. You can actually build up quite an opaque color with just a few swipes.

Revlon_ColorBurst_LipButters_Review&Swatches_1I received Sweet Tart and Tutti Frutti in my trade with Lola’s Charms and picked up Wild Watermelon when I was in Dubai. I should have picked up more but I was with my boyfriend and he can only handle about 5 minutes in any beauty supply store so I was rushed!! haha. Well to be honest it’s not like I need more lip products but these are just amazing and like nothing I own in my collection.

Well lets get into the review and swatches.

Revlon_ColorBurst_LipButters_Review&Swatches_SweetTartSweet Tart is a vibrant pink. The swatch is one swipe so it is rather sheer but can be built up to a rather intense color opacity.

Revlon_ColorBurst_LipButters_Review&Swatches_WildWatermelonWild Watermelon is super. It’s a redish pink and looks really fab on the lips. Again this is one swipe so it may appear sheer but a few swipes on the lips and wow oh wow do you have some bright colorful kissable looking lips.

Revlon_ColorBurst_LipButters_Review&Swatches_TuttiFruttiTutti Frutti is a warm orange. I think this is a fab color for summer and even fall. It’s a great alternative for you girls who have been wanting to try the orange color trend without over doing it or diving into those opaque vibrant oranges. This is still vibrant and packs a punch but you can wear it extra sheer for a tint of orange goodness.

THE VERDICT

10/10 for these babies. They do just what they claim, they moisturize and add a subtle to buildable color coverage. They are highly pigmented for this type of product and wear for a pretty long time. They’re just so perfect for warm summer days, easy to apply and mess free 😀 And the packaging is great, the color of the tube represents the color of the product so its super easy to see the colors amongst all my other lippies (that is if your a lip junkie like me, then you no what I’m talking about!!!)

I would definitely suggest these to everyone, plus they have sooooo many shades to choose from. If your looking for opaque matte colors these aren’t for you but for a subtle and ethereal color on the lips then you should go for it. Plus since they’re drugstore they are rather affordable. All my US readers can purchase these at any drugstore, target or Walmart. For my Brits you can get these at boots, unfortunately for my Danes they aren’t sold in Denmark :( But i think Ive seen them on amazon and ebay.

Have any of you tried the Revlon Lip Butters? I would love to hear about your experience.
